After recent major flooding incidents, and worries about global warming, combating flooding is high up in government priorities.

Jigsaw have been working with two major Water Authorities to develop innovative, low cost sensor technology to make it possible, for the first time, to measure the status of the sewer network in real time, with a granularity which allows incidents to be identified and pin pointed.

Once problems are identified, they are reported back immediately and displayed on a web site. GSM text, e-mail or other warnings are then issued to the required personnel so that immediate action may be taken.

Data from many sensing points is managed through a battery powered local hub, usually mounted on a convenient lamp post, which then transmits the data directly to the Internet using GPRS communications.
