Alcohol based hand antisepsis is strongly recommended in the 2002 Centre for Disease Control guidelines.
The transmission of pathogenic microorganisms by hands in medical practice has long been recognized as a source of infection in the treatment of patients and in surgery. Physical barriers such as surgical gloves often prove insufficient protection because of the high incidence of punctures and minor cuts by surgical instruments.
GL 4% Chlorohexidine Alcohol Disinfectant & Scrub has higher antibacterial activity and more effective disinfectant-cleansing composition.
Helps prevent intra-operative infections.
Correct Application of GL 4% Chlorohexidine Alcohol Hand Disinfectant.
1. Squirt onto the palm of the hand
2. The hands must be rubbed together vigorously ensuring the alcohol comes in contact wth all surfaces
3. Pay particular attention to the tips of fingers, the thumbs and the areas between fingers.
4. Continue to rub the the solution until it evaporated and the hands are dry ( normally 15 seconds).
Important:
GL 4% Chlorohexidine Alcohol Hand Disinfectant can be used in all clinical situations (including sterile procedures) EXCEPT when hands:
v Visibly dirty
v Contaminated with proteinaceous materials.
