HT, RADIO RIG DAN SSB

Handheld Transceiver (HT) merupakan jenis radio komunikasi yang harganya paling terjangkau. Dengan bentuk yang kecil dan ringan, radio ini dapat dibawa-bawa kemana-mana dengan mudah. Biasanya radio ini bekerja pada frekuensi 144 MHz, walaupun ada juga yang bekerja di dua frekuensi, yaitu 144 MHz dan 430 MHz. HT biasanya memiliki daya pancar 0,5 Watt sampai dengan 1 Watt.
Walkie talkie adalah sebuah alat komunikasi genggam yang dapat mengkomunikasikan dua orang atau lebih dengan menggunakan gelombang radio. Kebanyakan walkie talkie digunakan untuk melakukan kedua fungsinya yaitu berbicara ataupun mendengar. Walkie Talkie dikenal dengan sebutan Two Way Radio ataupun radio dua arah, yang dapat melakukan pembicaraan dua arah, berbicara dan mendengar lawan bicara secara bergantian. Walkie talkie dapat digunakan dalam jarak 0,5 Km sampai dengan 2,5 Km tanpa menggunakan biaya pulsa seperti menelpon. Walkie talkie merupakan transceiver, yang dikarenakan ia memiliki two way radios tersebut, alat ini memiliki radio transmitter dan sinyal penerima komunikasi radio.

Untuk menjangkau jarak dalam kota sekitar 5-10 km dapat dilakukan dengan di bantu antenna external (luar). Antenna yagi akan sangat menolong pada jarak agak jauh.
